Why "available but untested" is still the honest answer
Georgia prohibits commercial casinos, online casinos and sports betting under state law and its constitution. The Georgia Lottery, running since the early 1990s, is the main legal gambling product, and no Georgia law authorizes daily fantasy sports: SB 352, a 2016 bill to classify them as games of skill, did not pass. That is a restrictive backdrop, and the state's gambling laws are written broadly enough that Georgia could take a position on sweepstakes casinos if it chose to.
It has not chosen to. There is no Georgia statute that names dual-currency sweepstakes casinos, no licensing regime for them, and no public guidance from any Georgia agency treating a specific operator as unlawful. The operators' argument, that a promotion with a free entry route is not gambling because nobody has to pay to win, has never been accepted or rejected by a Georgia court. In our view that makes Georgia calmer than the states that have sent cease-and-desist letters, and we rate it a lower-risk market than those, but calm is not the same as settled.
What happened in the 2026 session
Two gambling measures drew attention and neither touched sweepstakes casinos. House Bill 910 would have legalised mobile sports betting through the Georgia Lottery, sidestepping the need for a constitutional amendment; it did not pass before the session ended, the fifth consecutive year a Georgia sports betting bill has died. Senate Resolution 131, carried into 2026 from the previous year, proposed a constitutional amendment covering sports betting and up to eight in-person casinos at a 20% tax rate; it cleared the Senate with the required two-thirds vote but not the House, so nothing reached the November 2026 ballot. No bill to restrict or ban sweepstakes casinos advanced.
What "GA sweepstakes" usually means
Searches for "GA sweepstakes" land on two different things. The Georgia Lottery runs second-chance drawings and promotions of its own, which are state-run and unrelated to casino-style play. Sweepstakes casinos are private platforms using Gold Coins for play and Sweeps Coins that can be redeemed for prizes, typically at $1 per Sweeps Coin, with a free entry route by law. What our Georgia reviewers found
Between April 27 and June 17, 2026, our reviewer programme ran 15 tests from Georgia across 12 operators, including McLuck, WOW Vegas, RealPrize, Spree, Rebet and Lucky Bunny.
